Individual Therapy
People may seek therapy for help with issues that are hard to face alone. Individual therapy is also called therapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling. Therapy can help people overcome obstacles to their well-being. It can increase positive feelings, such as compassion and self-esteem. People in therapy can learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals. Many find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware.
Book an AppointmentFamily Therapy
Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that can help family members improve communication and resolve family conflicts. Family therapy is often short term. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Your specific treatment plan will depend on your family's situation. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after you're done going to therapy sessions.
Book an AppointmentCouple Therapy
Marriage counseling supports couples to recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships. Through marriage counseling, you can make thoughtful decisions about rebuilding and strengthening your relationship or going your separate ways.
Book an AppointmentGroup Therapy
(Grief groups, post abortion support group, parents who loss a child) Many groups are designed to target a specific problem, such as depression, obesity, panic disorder, social anxiety, chronic pain or substance abuse. Other groups focus more generally on improving social skills, helping people deal with a range of issues such as anger, shyness, loneliness and low self-esteem. Groups often help those who have experienced loss, whether it be a spouse, a child or someone who died by suicide. On going a group of strangers may sound intimidating at first, but group therapy provides benefits that individual therapy may not. Psychologists say, in fact, that group members are almost always surprised by how rewarding the group experience can be. Groups can act as a support network and a sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way.
Book an AppointmentTherapeutic Modalities
Therapists typically are trained in one or more therapeutic modalities, theories, or types of therapy. These modalities inform the therapist about what is important in their work with their clients and provides a framework for engagement. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) are two modalities that I use with individuals, families, and couples. To learn more about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy please click here. For more information about Solution Focused Brief Therapy please click here. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which is a therapeutic modality primarily used in working with clients who has experienced Trauma and where depression, anxiety, or PTSD is a primary concern.
